NYCFC in the Media Thread - 2019

Our best winger is Isi. And I don’t think it’s close.

Gary has never produced consistently. He’s Jo Inge Berget.

don't think we've seen enough of GMS to make that call. Jo was given significant chances to make a difference but just didn't. He didn't have the footwork to play our style or even be a true hold up player like Heber is now.

GMS has speed and skill on the ball and he's still out of shape. But even so, he still puts in more effort than Mitri. I think it's well known that he is a confidence player. Fans of his old club know this better than anyone, but they all still like him because when he's on he's on fire. I think we have yet to see the best of Gary, but for me, the fact that he visibly puts forth the effort is enough for now. He's had a few cameo appearances and got an assist. One full start under his belt. I think we'll see him vs. CLB tomorrow and hopefully, he'll show why he deserves Mitri's starting spot.

I would disagree about Jo. We played a natural CF as a LW to accommodate our natural second striker.

Sims saying these events are how they show how much they value supporters...
I don't mind if this is the way things go, as long as they make it cheaper and more affordable in the long run. (which we know probably won't happen lol)

Also makes it very clear that he has nothing to do with the stadium. He’s here for branding

“We’re trying to find the next evolution in regards to our activations as we try to find things that put us on the map,” Sims said. “Some of that will be geographical as we push into areas we hadn’t been before, while some of that will be making sure we’re connecting with all of our members, creating highly valuable touchpoints.”

The guy speaks corporate marketing 101. I’m amazed that he is actually alive given that it doesn’t seem he actually wants to talk to existing fans.

The article does mention that attendance is down 12% yoy.

Don't know where to put it but in Aziz Ansari's special Right Now, there's a kid in the front row with the Hypnokit at around min 30.
Haha I remember noticing the same thing and thinking it would be amazing publicity if Aziz decided to make fun of his shirt.

If you want to skip the parts with those Red Bull players, just watch from 2:05 to 3:55.

Lol at the fact that the question is about his relationship with Pep and 80% of his answer is complaining about MLS.

he complains about MLS every preview and post match presser he has.. but he always covers himself with "but i come here to MLS.. so we must accept". MLS needs to genuinely listen to these complaints and do something about it if the league wants to truly grow into a top 3 league in the world.

A digression from the Dome and Pep bromance...
So I’ve learned that Glenn Crooks does a lot of NYCFC reporting. I listened to his most recent podcast last night and I gotta say, it was borderline insufferable.
Can we get The Outfield guys a press pass and a podcast please?

He's not wrong. Kudos for pushing the message. Even if I'd rather hear more about the specifics of his coaching methods and style compared to Pep and, iunno, how likely Pep is to join NYCFC after he's won everything he can at MCFC.
