PSA - YouTube TV Will No Longer Carry YES Network

My brother showed me an alternative to google chrome called Opera which has a free VPN built into it. I tried getting it to work with espn+ and honestly it was a pain in the neck to get everything to finally load. But it did get around the blocked content to show me one of the replay games from last year. So I dont know if its totally worth it but it worked for me yesterday
Not a bad recommendation. could potentially be doable. based on a bit of googling, seems opera's VPN uses a canadian service, which may not be blocked by ESPN+. worth a shot.

i'm gonna give it a go and will report back if ESPN+ works. won't know for sure if it will show up as "out of region" for watching the game this weekend, but it should as long as it doesn't use a NY area based server for some reason.

UPDATE:
I can confirm ESPN+ does work with Opera's VPN option enabled. I don't have a way to check for out of region viewing yet. So, i'll have to see what happens this weekend.

Process is pretty simple if anybody wants to give it a try. Download and install the opera browser. Go into settings and enable the VPN. that's it.

i wonder if i change cyberghost to put me in Toronto (or anywhere in Canada) it will let me stream espn+. I’ve been using different locations in USA. I’ll update tomorrow.

i tried to opera browser idea but it didnt work for me. it kept giving me error message. and would not load the video player.

I have a subscription to Express VPN which has been good. Will give an update for this season to confirm, likely for this weekend’s game
FYI, I tried this at the beginning of today’s match (used a DC connection) and was able to use ESPN+

Thanks. Guess I’ll try express vpn instead.

They did reach a "temporary agreement" yesterday to continue negotiating (so I watched the match on Youtube TV).... but can anyone find info on how long this "temporary agreement" lasts?

It's probably no set time and can get pulled at any moment.

This. if you read the twitter post i quoted above, it simply says its temporarily extended "while we work to reach an agreement." So, if at anytime talks fail, it will get yanked. no guarantees it will be around next weekend for TFC. hopefully they can come to an agreement cause the hassle of finding a stream otherwise is pretty annoying (aside from just paying more money for another VPN service)

YouTube and Sinclair made a deal but YES is not part of it. Sounds like subscribers in NY and LA got hosed.

we can only assume, sinclair wanted a whole lot more money for YES as it's a big draw with Yankees games and Youtube just said .. um. no.

sigh. looks like our VPN workaround is going to be the next best option.

The LA networks that were also cut don't carry the really big teams. They currently have the Angels, Clippers, Kings and Ducks. The Dodgers and Lakers are on different non-Sinclair networks. So I'm not sure what's driving that, but with YES, I agree it has to be the Yankees. We're just hostages along for the ride.

Cyberghost working great with amazon fire stick on tv, using ESPN+. Didn’t check in phone but got an email they made some updates last week.

I am looking at CyberGhost and NordVPN. Cyberghost is cheaper, but I'm curious if NordVPN is faster.

I can confirm Opera's free VPN does get blocked trying to access ESPN+. :( It will load the main ESPN page but when trying to access ESPN+ content, it doesn't load anything on the schedule.

Does anyone know if having YoutubeTV, we will still be able to use FoxSportsGo and stream from there?

That’s my current idea for a workaround, but am not really sure if it will work or not. If I no longer have access to FSGo or if it’ll be blacked out there too.
