What a weird case study he is. In regular games he's a good player. But in the biggest games, he's just the biggest liability you've ever seen. Completely loses his mind in big games. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that in big games, he's unplayable.
Did he lose his mind or was Quinones just that good?
I thought the team as a whole was a step behind Tigres the entire game. All a Tigres player had to do was drop a shoulder and just like that, they were flying past our guy with ease. We were made to chase the ball and work extra hard to keep the ball.
We started to have some creativity in the 2nd half but we just seemed so damn rusty. I'm not blaming this on the weeks off at all. There's just too much to consider given the situation we are in. This is not a normal year in any sense. I just think it sucks that this all had to happen this way during our first chance at CCL and probably our last chance for a long time.
This team has what it takes to be top of the league. We lost a lot of key players and I thought the game opened up a lot more once Parks came on and Medina came off. Park's ability to look for the ball and KEEP it was a huge difference over Medina's one touch and turnover. His not starting is just the epitome of 2020 hitting us square in the nuts.
I have not been big on Ronnie from the start. I'm still not a fan and think we could do with a better coach. I think he respects his players and is doing his best, but he's just not the type of manager that can create a championship team with what he has. A lot of decisions just never made sense to me.
I am loyal to a lot of our guys, but sometimes I wish they'd show more fight. When they stop just before going into a tackle or casually flick and knock the ball around like they're just messing around at training, it makes me question just how badly they want to play. To be a champion you have to laser focus and we just don't have that with any consistency. That being said - I give them a pass this year. It's been rough.
I am looking forward to seeing what the club does about our DP situation and genuinely hope they focus on bringing in a #10 to replace Maxi. Love the guy, but he's lost a step or two.
Here's to 2021.. it can't be worse than 2020... can it?
