How do we know he is not a defender? I actually think he's become a VERY good 1 v 1 defender up the field. He's athletic and strong in the air. He has a high work rate and covers a lot of space.

He is too indecisive. Think of how often it seems he is of two minds and instead of picking one decision, he picks neither and loses the ball

I agree, but you're arguing that we change our approach to accommodate one player. Based on your Pirlo stance, I would've assumed you're against that
