Dallas Postmatch

Jack Harrison is good though.

Honestly, I thought he was pretty average tonight. Can't deny the quality of the two assists, but he did very little when he had the ball at his feet, running at the fullback tonight. I adore the guy, but I'm worried he's gone off the boil.

Drunk Midas >Mena!

If we are ever in a spot in which we need a CB and Mena is the only option, just send Claudio into the batter's eye with a full kit and a contract and bring Midas Mulligan Midas Mulligan onto the pitch!

Edit: Sorry for all of the focus on Mena's shitty ass performance. I'm going to assume that everyone got the point by now and we can start focusing on the rest of the match!

Like Pirlo was solid tonight, Villa ehhhh, Khiry nice, and Jack Harrison is dope.
Drunk? Nope. Saunders is just that fucking awful. Seriously. Watch the replay. He's all over the place. He literally makes us an average of a half goal per game worse than an average keeper.

Of course, he is bad. But you would be better than Mena

Anyone have info on Lampard's fuckin leg?
Guaranteed we don't see him again until playoffs, if at all. Always was only a matter of time.

For any positive feelings anyone might have, let me quash them. We should have lost by 4. We were absolute dogshit. And we've been absolute dogshit for weeks.

Saunders sucks, Mena sucks, Mendoza gives so much effort I'll give him a pass on the devastating miss late in the game.

PS - bomb went out in Chelsea so everyone be safe tonight getting home

I actually don't think Mena is that bad. I think he's struggling with playing out of the back when we have a player he absolutely can't retreat to. He has actual soccer talent, that means he's probably a top 7 player for us.
Eta: I appreciate the vote of confidence. But I'm not sure my dribbling tennis balls around the apartment has me ready.

What? Details please.

Eta: Oh shit. Just checked it out online. My old hood. Thank God for the safe confines of Hells Kitchen. (Eye roll, I guess?)

While I thought Mena was by far the worst player on the field last week, didn't think he was that bad tonight, which goals are we attributing to him? Saunder near post on first, n no one picking up a guy they assumed (but wasn't) offsides on the second, I really didn't know what mattarita was going nuts about there, he was on, Mena had some shaky moments like the whole team tonight, but he also came up big, we were lucky to get a point there, almost stole 3

No real details yet.

As to the soccer, Harrison's assists were great. He has to work on his entrance to the 18. To shake the defender he cuts to his left every. Single. Time. It worked for those first three games he started but watch it now. CBs drift towards the center of the box almost before he makes the cut and then poke the ball away. Still thrilling, just needs some seasoning.

Ignoring that there may well be a vast gulf in actual God given talent, seeing Jack on the wing versus a kid like Pulisic highlights the difference of intelligence and craftiness between a kid who trains with a UCL first team since 16 and one who goes to Wake Forest.

I'm trying to put this game in perspective that a tie is a good result against Dallas. But that being said, we should have won but Mendoza missed big time. And we should have also lost but Dallas hit the post. Tomorrow's Toronto vs. New Jersey result will have a big impact on our top two status and my health next week (Toronto, please win!).

A few things to note:

- First, I got that sick white jacket the players wore the past two games. I don't know when I am going to wear it but it just oozes swag.
- Mena had a bad game.
- But, Allen Kelly and the rest of the officials were much, much worse. I think that was the worst refereeing at home I've seen this reason. No offside call on the Dallas 2nd goal. Tackles on players (Pirlo) that should have been yellow cards. I think PRO needs to have referees work with the same guys for every game. That's how the NFL does it and there is a lot less complaining about those refs than in MLS. The same crew that works together, makes better calls. Chemistry, just like a team.
- You have to think when Lampard went down, putting Mendoza in that situation in midfield was odd. What midfielder do we have that replicates Lampard's talents with box to box work ethic? Hmm..........
- Vieira was going to put Taylor on before we scored the second. After we did, Hernandez was called upon.
- There were these two older women sitting next to me. I haven't seen them ever before in those seats this season. They called Brillant cute. I blame them for the tie. And the refs, FUCK THE REFS THIS GAME. (Did Shelton get pulled down in the box towards the end?)
- And why did we wear the 9/11 armbands again? I'm not against it, just odd.
- Here's to a quick recovery for Lampard, whatever the injury may be
- I miss Ian Joy on our YES broadcasts. This Janusz guy is just not enthusiastic.

Just got home from the stadium so won't watch the replay until tomorrow but I thought we were fortunate to get a point although it could've easily been three points to either team. But also, is it just me or were we unable to complete a pass tonight (especially in the second half)?

Agreed. The midfield was disjointed to say the least. A lot of long speculative almost type passes from Pirlo that I'm sure would have been highlight real. If.

Was T Mac not very offsides on our first goal? Hard to tell from where my seats are but...that looked like a gift from the refs that maybe explain why those cut tackles on Pirlo weren't called? Reaching I know.

Josh sucks, blah blah blah, we're 2 years into this guys... he's not the best, but what about the moments, point blank super early today, yeah, not bad huh??? Being a goalie sucks, obviously it'd be nice to have the best one in the world, but Josh Saunders is not the worst thing about this club. He's an easy target for post match bs. We just 2-2'd the top club in MLS, pretty awesome. I'm psyched for THAT PLAYOFF NYCFC SHIT. Stay pos
