We had better pack the stadium and give them a rather "warm" NY welcome! And then send them off with a genuine NY kick in the.....
I was listening to the NYCFC Nation podcast earlier today and they had an Atlanta guy on there (from Dirty South Soccer I wanna say?). Based on the discussion this guy brought, we're doomed to lose about 6-0.
He basically said their defense is great, and their offense is a juggernaut, and the narrow field will work to their advantage, and NYCFC can't handle the press, etc. etc. etc.
I do think this will be a tough match, and do think they are a very talented team that will be competing in the playoffs this year, but honestly, after listening to this guy spew out how amazingly fantastic ATL were, I thought they had to have lost maybe one match. I didn't think he could possibly be talking about a team that has taken 5 points in its last 5 matches.
I really do enjoy it when podcasts of my sports teams bring in local guys from upcoming opponents, but damn this was a bit much.
Also, I think one of the regular guys on there used #Gio2020 (also said, lets start that hashtag). Didn't you have that here before? So smug...
DC played them right by bunkering and conceding possession. They usually create turnovers and score on the resultant breakout. DC said, lets see if you can break down an organized opponent, and they couldn't. There is a reason Ben Olsen usually gets more out of his teams than the talent would suggest. You know we won't do that, so it comes down to who scores more. We can easily lose this game, as always, it depends on which Vieira shows up.I'm honestly trying to see where we lose this game, and I don't see it. DC walked through them.

I was the first one on the forum to use that hashtag. Likely also the first individual to publicly post it on the interwebs.

I know some people have issues with Seattle fans, I have never experienced that. I've actually been to a game with ECS in Seattle several years ago and it was some of the most fun I've ever had at a sporting event, even though I was not passionate about their team at all. That guy was ridiculous - it was like hearing an overexuberant fan after downing 5 beers. I think he even made the show hosts do a double take with his unbridled enthusiasm for how great ATL is.
You didn't even point out this guy's best points:
-ATL is "the best" pressing team in the league, better than RBNJ (announcers did a double take on this one)
-Almiron should be league MVP
-Pirez is defender of the year
-Yankee Stadium field is an advantage for ATL
Makes you want a beat down on Sunday. Remember how Seattle fans were seen as smug? This guy is obnoxious Seattle fan on steroids.

Just listened to this pod and coming here to post about that self-inflated enema that NYCFCfan had on the show.I was listening to the NYCFC Nation podcast earlier today and they had an Atlanta guy on there (from Dirty South Soccer I wanna say?). Maybe the only people paying enough attention to MLS to think "hey, that Atlanta expansion team looks pretty good" are people who are already NYCFC season ticket holders? I think those of us in our Soccer Obsessive Bubble overestimate the amount of attention and interest casual fans have.I really don't understand how this game has such weak demand. What am I missing?
thanks for editing "week" on your quote of my sentence. Keep me looking smaht. You're the real MVPMaybe the only people paying enough attention to MLS to think "hey, that Atlanta expansion team looks pretty good" are people who are already NYCFC season ticket holders? Hell, the STH who sits on my left had no idea who any of the new signings were at the home opener. Even STHs can fail to pay much attention.
It will be on Univision in Spanish, and live-streamed on facebook in EnglishI Can't seem to find where this game will be televised can anyone Help Please ??
roxfontaine would need to move the NY Song back until after the Villa chant to get full effect with it - isn't usually sung for about 5min and the team def looks like they kick into another gear during it.roxfontaine - how about a "David Villa" chant at the 7 minute mark tomorrow to celebrate his contract extension.
Don't say that too loud. According to the ATL fan on the NYCFC Nation podcast, Atlanta has already won the MLS Cup, US Open Cup, UEFA Champions League, FIFA World Cup, and beat the Monstars in basketball to save the universe.Maybe the only people paying enough attention to MLS to think "hey, that Atlanta expansion team looks pretty good" are people who are already NYCFC season ticket holders?
