I liked this. But it also depressed me. Green is an ugly color I wear from time to time.Orlando
DC United's stadium design gets some tweaks
Inside Banc of California Stadium
Atlanta
My first thoughts. I'd want to see the inside but it looks like a good 25% of the stadium will be luxury boxes.I wonder what the luxury & suite seats ratio of BoC Stadium is going to be compared to all seats in the stadium...
Is that not going to be fully enclosed?I think I see a pool behind the bar there in the LA ones.
Some possibility we see some of the LA derby games at the new Inglewood stadium I would think.
I guess the silver-lining for every year we wait is that our stadium will likely be larger and more of a palace as the league matures and we need to one-up everyone else.
OCSC's stadium started at 19.5k with ideas to be expandable to 25k and now they are just going straight to 25k but really that won't be nearly enough. They have no choice because to make it any larger they'll need to completely go back to the drawing board on the stadium design and that would delay it years. So, in like 10 or 15 years, they'll need to completely overhaul it or build an entirely new stadium.
Hopefully we skip that awkward phase and just go straight to a 40k+ stadium.
Do you really think 40k in attendance is attainable/sustainable?
It's only a two year sample but we are trending in the wrong direction average NYCFC home game attendance:
2015 - 29,016
2016 - 27,196
You could argue the drop was to be expected as we didn't have the opening season hype and that giant inaugural game crowd. On the other hand the team was much better this year and made the playoffs so that should have helped the numbers. It will be interesting to see where we fall at the end of 2017, but over all I'd say we are a long way from steady 40K attendance numbers.
I think the move is to build for 30K capacity now with the ability to expand to 40K on the same footprint. The optics would look terrible if you built a 40k stadium and it's regularly 50-75% filled. Look at how bad Yankee Stadium looks for Yankees games now.
