Chicago postmatch

I have to say that after hearing so much about the Chicago "juggernaut" - Nikolic/Accam/Schweini and such, I was actually surprised at how mediocre Chicago looked. The MLS site has created the narrative that CHI dominates possession, so I was expecting them to carve up NYC after the red card and this didn't really happen until the last 10 minutes or so. And also Chicago didn't play Wednesday either.

Also, a lot of the MLS talking heads have been saying Schweini should be MVP - somebody should send a tape of this game to the league office. Villa was head and shoulders over him today.

Besides enjoying the game on the DVR I've also spotted roxfontaine and JayH so far
Knowing the score & watching on the DVR, you are lucky enough not to have gotten the collective nausea that accompanied seeing the early red card, feeling like we were fcked on an abysmally hot day because how could a team hang on in those conditions, while also realizing the day was going to just be a lousy hot mess.

I had that sitting bumper-to-bumper on the LIE.

I've said this before and I'll say it again.

David Villa is my favorite player who will ever wear an NYCFC shirt. He's one of the best players ever in Major League Soccer, and certainly one of the best DP's in league history. The man is incredible.

I was thinking after the game what picture we would use to build the statue for him outside our stadium...As of now, I'm going with this one.

That's a good one, but frankly it has to be his goal celebration.

Why must we only have one statue? I say one at every entrance.

I'll be honest, I knew and appreciated Villa was a really good player. But he's so far beyond the opinion of him that I held before watching him every match, it's like he's an entirely different player than I expected.

I think I was basing too much of my opinion on a Villa that wasn't actually fully fit again. No doubt he has actually gotten better since beginning his MLS time.

Said similar before, but I'd go a step further and say that he is definitely a top 20 in the world striker at this moment. He may be higher than that.

ETA:
(Admittedly, I'm saying 20 without even making a list in my head. It just feels right. But not sure I could name 15 better, honestly)

Falastur you tell pep to be nice to Sergio and keep him around. He's the only realistic option I could name that would work like Villa for us. Strikingly similar heart and workrates and will to win.

By the way, we're a dubious penalty call from having six points in two games against the two best teams in the East.

This team is a bona-fide MLS Cup contender. We're good enough. We're deep enough. And we play with enough heart.

These last two games have answered the question whether NYCFC belongs among the league's elite in 2017. They do. Unequivocally, they do.

Allen's penalty wasn't dubious, watch it again.

I am with you 101%. Earlier today , I had a similar conversation with 2 different folks . David has earned every dollar he gets paid. I love it when he puts his arm akimbo and protest to the officials.
