thats the last time im going respond going back and forth about the same bullshit subject by the way. I dont agree with you, you dont agree with me. Leave it at that.
On the first quoted paragraph, I don't think anyone is saying that we are a lock to win the shield or MLS Cup. Just that there is no proof that this team can't. I find that silly.I have a few ideas about how we can make a better lineup out of our roster when Wallace is out, but I don't think anyone is arguing that we didn't put the best team out there. I think people are arguing that the best team that we can put out there is not a lock for Supporters' Shield or MLS Cup. basically half of their starters.
I have some ifs too: if Spencer doesn't completely blow that header, it's not offside. If Giovinco doesn't miss that cross from Morgan, we're 2-0 or 2-1 down at half-time. If Maxi's shot doesn't take a lucky deflection, we never take the lead. If Toronto scores 2 or 3 of their 5 or 6 chances in the last 25 minutes, instead of just the 1, we get nothing from this game. Back to the top of the post – this is a game where results are not strongly correlated with ability.
MLS is a parity league where anyone can beat anyone on any given week. In Europe generally the teams that win the league lose 5 games or less these days. In MLS you can lose 10 or even more and still win the league. Play off format means the ultimate winner is usually the team that is most in form and has the least injuries. Last night was frustrating and discouraging but says nothing definitive about how we'll perform in November.
So then what did you mean by it? You've used that term that it has been proven that this team/lineup can't win the Cup. Is there some other way I should interpret that?is anything ever definitive in sports? i think you guys are taking the literal definition of the word "proof" and running away with it.

Ok, I am just failing to see the evidence then that this team can't do it. Should we be favorites to? Definitely not.It seems very evident that this lineup cannot win the cup. We can beat any team and we can lose to any scrub team, that is not a formula for winning in the playoffs. It will get you through the regular season just fine.
I have liked Vieira. he's done nice things with some players, but he is far from the best strategic coach in the league. Credit to him for instilling the 433 and playing fromt he back, I love the style, but he gets outcoached way too many times, with teams outplaying us despite having less talent. Last night was a perfect example. Credit to Vanney. Olsen did it earlier this year, too.

But we're talking about just a couple of games in October/November. I absolutely think this team and current lineup is more than capable of winning it all.
I see your point, but I think it's slightly different.I have liked Vieira. he's done nice things with some players, but he is far from the best strategic coach in the league. Not saying your opinion is invalid. But you're often presenting it as a fact, "proven this team can't win", "evident that this team can not win the cup", etc. etc.youre more optimistic than me and thats great. (not being sarcastic) Still dont think that makes my opinion as invalid because its just that, an opinion.

Gotta think White and Sweat are two that come to mind. White had definitely looked better this year to last year. Don't really have anything to compare to for Sweat, but since he hadn't managed to get MLS time with any other team, he must be playing betterPlayer development is extremely difficult to parse out and assign to a coach. That's not disagreeing with you I just go back and forth on whether it's possible to attribute anything to PV as far as raising anyone's game and how much is down to natural development/opportunity/system. Curious who you feel he has developed to perform better individually or who "his" system guys are
